HTML - Hyper Text Markup Language

Hyper Text Markup Language or HTML is the prime markup language used for creating and formatting a web document. HTML is used to organize text by using headings, paragraphs, tables, links, etc. The formatting is done through "tags", letters representing something surrounded by angle brackets. <> with a p between the brackets is an example of a tag for a paragraph. There are now many WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) applications available that will allow you to edit and format content of a web page without any knowledge of HTML.
